Life Eternal

After a friend's mother passed away on the Sunday of the lesson "Probation After Death", I've been pondering the subject and was inspired to write about it...

Death is often looked as an end.
It is looked at as a last breath;
but confinement in an earthly body
is the only thing that ends with death.

Death is just a passing on
to somewhere out of sight from earth;
but a being never ceases being,
it continues on to a new birth.

So just because we can't see the ones
who've left the world we live in,
doesn't mean they're separate from us.
Through God, they watch us from within.

Though they pass, we are forever connected
to those who's lives we've touched.
They'll eternally feel your deepest love
in a sincere "thank you very much."

Pure Listening

Simply listen. That is all that's needed. Listening applies to every relationship we have - including with ourselves and with God. Do it effectively and you can make an enormous difference...

What are you communicating
when you listen to your friends?
Will they be thinking "this is someone
on whom I can depend.
Someone who's consistently there
with a helping hand to lend.
Someone who's completely sincere,
and isn't going to pretend.
Someone who'll float down my river,
no matter which way it bends."

"Someone who's not trying to fix me,
who'll go further than meaningless chatter,
who understands what's important to me,
who's willing to climb up my ladder,
who'll remember things from dialogues past,
who won't condemn or make dreams shatter,
who'll ride shotgun and let me drive,
who'll be my catcher instead of a batter,
who listens with caring whatever the topic
who shows me that right now I am all that matters."

Pure brotherly and sisterly love
is the message deep listening sends.
Is this what you're communicating
when you listen to your friends?

Limits: Irrelevant

We are limitless...

Human limits are irrelevant,
They possess zero authority.
They can have absolutely no effect,
when Truth holds your majority.
The minute a suggested limit shows up,
make dominion your priority.

Your choice is clear with the gentle voice of God:
"It's either you... or it's Me."

Fully Committed

I missed a day two days ago, so yesterday was Day 1 again. This is what came up for me to write about...

100 days may seem like a long time;
it may seem like a huge mountain to climb.
To stay committed for 100 straight days?
"If I could make it that long, I'd be amazed."

But that type of thinking won't let you progress.
To turn yourself around, just say "Yes!"
It's simply one day at a time as you go,
plus you'll be surprised how much you will grow.

And if you happen to miss a day,
no need to condemn yourself in any way.
All you do is start back at day one;
'cause it's no different than any other day...
You just get it done.

Resting in Action

I wrote this poem late at night, inpsired by my struggle not to fall asleep...

Just like God, we rest in action;
so let the night and day mesh.
Sustained by every active deed,
simply BE and you're refreshed.

What Are You Waiting For?

A poem about gratitude...

Say you have a week before you embark
on an adventure to a distant frontier.
You will be gone for forty years without
communication with anyone here.

What would you say to the ones you love?
What would you want them to know...
About what they mean to you as a friend?
About how they've helped you grow?

Now say you're not going away.
Say I just want you to implore...
Why shouldn't you tell people these things now?
What are you waiting for?

Surprise!

There's nothing better than a sweet surprise! They happen every day. Instead of trying to plan out everything in our lives, surprises should be celebrated, because they are guaranteed to happen...

Surprises are all connected
by a plan divinely directed
by a Source whole and perfected
from which all events are reflected.

Surprises are just detected
by receivers unsuspected;
but in reality are already selected
by the divine order already erected.

So even if you are dejected
you can easily be uninfected,
because you are always well protected,
and don't have to be affected.

Just remember...
Nothing bad can be projected
when you expect the unexpected!

Deep-Rooted Dispute

This poem is about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict...

A home to two peoples,
but never at the same time.
A cherished belonging shared with another,
but both hands never hold it together.
A deep-rooted treasure sought by two nations,
but only one can claim it,
only one can own it,
only one can keep it.

...or so it seems.

There cannot be a shared peace...
until either side shifts and decides to release.

An Epic Campaign

This one was written yesterday about the marathon I just ran...

No words can accurately describe
the incredible amount of fun I'm having today.
This experience is one I'll never forget;
one where God is on consistent display.

The masses of friendly runners,
the perfect temperature and refreshing rain,
the constant, ever-renewing freedom,
and a running partner to share this epic campaign.

The miles quickly keep dropping,
one by one by one by one.
Every step proving I am not my body,
I could never give in - this is way too much fun!

A wall of resistance hits around mile twenty-one;
is there really a full XC race length to go?
But the best way to beat this resistance, I find,
is most definitely not be slow...
It's to speed up and go!

So I shift gears and just let it all flow.

When the thought comes "I have nothing left",
I leave all limits behind and take flight;
and then instead of me being tired,
the resistance slowly gives up its fight.

All material suggestion falls to the wet road,
quickly fading behind me in the mortal abyss.
Now flying on wings of inspiration,
I've never felt dominion as strongly as this.

It's Arrived!

I wrote this last night before running my first marathon today...

The culmination
has arrived.
The ultimate reward
has arrived.
Everything we've worked towards
has arrived.

Yet,
this journey of a lifetime
has always been.

Thousands are gathered here
for the same purpose.
We are joined together
by this common goal,
and this common love.

Rain or shine, cold or warm.
It doesn't matter...
Because everything
is Thine.

Twenty-six point two
equals freedom.

On your mark...
Get set...
Glorify!

How I Would Paint: History

Yesterday in my class about the Israel-Palestine conflict, we did an exercise where we had the prompt: How I would paint (blank), filling in the blank with a quality or aspect of the conflict. Then we would write a poem from the completed prompt. So here's one I wrote for how I would paint history...

A flowing,
never-ending,
never-beginning,
progressing
current of thought.

An unyielding,
often misinterpreted,
force of nature
that leads straight to
the Current,
the Now.

Thank You's

Here are thank you poems to six friends who are consistent, awesome examples of living on purpose...

Thank you beautiful Morning Dove!
You are one I'm in awe of.
Democracy and you fit like a glove;
taking its principles farther than gov.
Shining your light so far above,
that all you have left is Love.

Thank you rock-solid Silent Night!
Walking where matter is out of sight.
An integrity above just wrong and right;
mortal mind has no chance in a fight.
Glowing upon a hill sits your light.
There's nothing you're fire can't ignite.

Thank you inspirational Morning Star!
Traveling the globe near and far.
Better for the world than the electric car;
you'd still make a difference if you were stuck in tar.
You're always living right on par,
with exactly who you know you are.

Thank you purpose-driven Laughing Yes!
Constantly ready with an aim to progress.
Quicker and wittier than words can express.
There's nothing your dominion won't suppress.
What a privilege of giving you possess,
to a whole world of people that you bless.

Thank you beloved Constant Seeker!
Seeking knowledge with just your pair of sneakers.
Consistently discovering as a mountain peaker;
standing firm, mortal mind has never been weaker.
Granted the gift of being nature's speaker;
I've never met anybody meeker.

And finally, Sacred Poem, it's your thank you time!
(The word "poem" is a hard one to rhyme)
But no matter, you've committed no crime--
you're just committed to Love, an example so prime.
There's no mountain too high for you to climb,
with a dominion that's nothing short of sublime.

With Love, UR

Your Stillness

Today's poem is the first one on the blog that doesn't rhyme. It is dedicated to the members of the Leadership course I took about 4 weeks ago...

What is your true identity?
The answer is simple:

You have a stillness inside of you...

A quiet lightening
that allows you to
safely abide
in your child heart
full of sun,
that sends
ageless beams of light
to shine on
white blazes of clarity,
reminding you to climb higher
and stand with honor
as the awakened warrior of Truth,
while the touch of a warm wind laughs
a resounding YES
to pierce through to mastery,
guided by the unlimited rhythm
of the river's song
that only gives smiles.

This stillness is your true identity
living on purpose.

Unleash Your Give

After a fun experience yesterday overcoming resistance and giving to an unlikely recipient, I was inspired to write this poem...

Give, give, give and you shall receive
more blessings than you can even believe.
If resistance tries to hinder your gift,
declare it's unreality and make the shift
back to giving with a foundation of joy:
a true happiness that nothing can destroy.

Unleash your give, and bid all self adieu.
Unleash this desire that's inside of you.
Its freeing sensation fills your entire soul
with a divine connection that makes you whole.
This wholeness that then fills your entire heart
with a love only inspired giving can impart.

Progression

Another important core value of mine - actually probably my most important - is progress. Nothing is more vital to me in our lives than consistently progressing in a way that blesses both ourselves and others...

To progress is to live.
To progress is to rise.
To progress is to give.
To progress is to fly.

To progress is to be so free from limitation
that Life continually beckons you
to something higher...
to a calling full of desire...
to a place and time where
you are needed
on fire...

Here.
and Now.

On Top of Your Mountain

This poem was inspired by one of my biggest core values: Dominion. It's something we experience everyday, in big ways or small. The more we recognize and strive for Dominion, the more we will progress...

What is your ego telling you right now?
Whatever it is, it should not be allowed
to linger and fester and clog up your flow
that keeps you on beat, and allows you to grow.

So get up, go out, and conquer this beast!
What are you waiting for? All pressure's released.
The climb up is tough, but very rewarding;
it's a journey of learning, so plan accordingly.

Then on top of your mountain, there's no grander view.
There's nothing so clear, nothing so true,
nothing so pure, nothing so freeing,
nothing in the world that's more worth seeing.

On top of your mountain, in my opinion,
is best described as
peaceful dominion.

A Still, Small Reminder

I wrote this poem last night about an experience I just had like the one the poem describes. I've had this type of experience many times, and every time I do, it's incredible the amount of harmony and joy that comes out of it...

Don't you love it when there's so much to do,
and you run around trying to get it all done.
When you're stressed out of your mind, worried sick
that you won't finish when you've barely even begun.

When the more stressed and worried you get,
the worse and worse the situation becomes.
When you start to lose your cool with frustration.
When mortal mind has gotten you to succumb...

And then...
A still, small reminder:
"It's going to be fine.
Just take off your mortal blinders."

"Everything's already taken care of.
Bare witness to My view.
I'm working My purpose out.
And I've got you."

When you get a message like that,
You obey.
And then everything is okay.

Yes, I love when that happens.
I love... today.

All the Love

Another short but sweet one. A simple truth and a comforting reminder...

God loves you unconditionally,
so feeling you're unloved is Truth reversed.
Since God is only good, and God is ALL,
you've actually got ALL the Love in the universe.

Not Enough?

The world seems to revolve around not having enough. However, this a bogus proposition because we are always infinitely supplied for. There's a great quote from Paul Zaiter that says, "There is a natural law of abundance which pervades the entire universe, but it will not flow through a doorway of lack and limitation." Lack is one of the biggest falsities corrupting our minds today, and here's a poem about it...

Not enough.
Not enough.
Not enough.
Is anything crazier than "not enough"?
Not enough money.
Not enough sleep.
Not enough love.
Is it truly all this rough?

Instead of looking at "not enough",
try looking at all your stuff.
Don't search outside your personal box,
it's time to see within it.
Because in reality,
we have all we need
every minute.

Scarcity is a lie.
Give gratitude a try.

The Difference

Here's another I wrote about a week ago. It's short but sweet...

To make a real difference in the life of another,
and create a friendship set in cement:
just simply be a true sister or brother,
and listen to them 100 percent.

A Masterpiece

This poem was inspired by a story called "Paint Me a Masterpiece" in Gordon MacKenzie's book Orbiting the Giant Hairball. The last line in the poem is definitely the most important one...

Even before I crawl out of the womb,
into a much larger more comfortable room,
I am given a blank canvas from God.
When I ask what it's for, He just smiles and nods.

I trust his calm faith and I emerge with my page,
but I begin to realize, I feel stuck in a cage.
At first I'm confused what this blank sheet is for,
and I drag it around finding it quite a chore.

As I grow, other people draw lines on my sheet,
and tell me to color inside them all neat.
Number by number I draw quite afraid,
that if I mess up, I'll get a bad grade.

This quickly gets old and I question my worth:
what difference am I going to make on this earth?
If I can't even create my own colorful art,
how am I going to find what truly rests in my heart?

Lost and confused, I again turn to God.
And again, He calmly smiles and nods.
Completely forgiving, with no thought of the past,
He gives me a new sheet, and says, "Have a blast!"

"This canvas is yours, it's your life, go release!
I only ask that you paint Me a masterpiece.
It's your choice; just remember, no matter what you do,
no one can paint your masterpiece, but you."
